I can get the tool installed, and log in, and it accepts my CSV upload, but beyond that I have no joy. The "Settings" option for logging in to Google Analytics is greyed out, and no sales information is displayed. I'm just a freeloader at present; I haven't signed up for a 30-day free trial yet, though I have created a login at Monitus.
What am I doing wrong?

Did you set-up your Google Analytics credentials in the settings? Please have a look at our installation instructions for details - but basically, you need to set-up your Google Analytics credentials by selecting "Settings" in the little "Cog" menu, in the upper-right corner...

Doh - I apologize again, you are right. In it's free form, the extension doesn't give you access to the Google Aanlytics-related functions... You indeed need to subscribe to monitus.net for this...
